A Testimonial from Kevin Kaye from The Kevin Kaye Show
In today’s world of high-tech video streaming we currently have two choices. Periscope or Meerkat. Both apps allow you to stream live video from your phone or tablet but which one is your best choice? Both apps are connected to Twitter, both apps allow you to add the title of your video stream, choose to, or not to, post to Twitter, and then launch your stream to the world. Both apps allow for push notifications when friends go live with their streaming broadcasts, and the quality of both are excellent, but of course that depends on your connection, but which one is best? Meerkat’s was the first to launch their streaming video app. Periscope came a little late to the show, but there’s a lot of things in Periscope that Meerkat lacks. For one Periscope will hold on to a broadcast for 24 hours, so, if you miss your friends video stream you can catch it later in the day. Meerkat doesn’t allow for that. Another thing is the look and feel of the experience. Periscope displays a nice clean screen with only the actual stream, comments, and likes, with the viewer count at the lower corner of the screen, while Meerkat displays a lot of obscuring items such as a status bar, location, avatars, etc. Here Periscope wins by a long-shot, but of course that’s just my opinion. I like a clean view of my video presentation stream without any distractions. Don’t get me wrong, both streaming apps do their job but aesthetically I prefer Periscope. Meerkat has been out for a little longer but Periscope has done it’s homework and seems to be attracting more viewers. It’s set up is quite intuitive, clean, and easy to use. With Periscope simplicity is the goal.
